Gatelite-(Ce) can be regarded as a ET polisome within a polysomatic series having epidote and törnebohmite as end-members.

Chemically related to dissakisite-(Ce), dollaseite-(Ce), manaevite-(Ce), västmanlandite-(Ce), and somewhat to khristovite-(Ce).
