Name:
Named in 1846 by Wilhelm Karl von Haidinger in honor of Alexander Löwe (24 December 1808, St. Petersburg, Russia - 29 March 1895, Vienna, Austria-Hungary), chemist and Chief Assayer at the Mint, Vienna, Austria and later director of the Porcelain Works. He was the first to efficiently extract tellurium form Nagyág ores.
