Named in honor of Boris Mikhailovich Kupletski (Борис Михайлович Куплетский) (10(22) January 1894, St. Petersburg, Russian Empire - 14 January 1964, Moscow, USSR), geologist and petrographer at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and Elsa Maximilianovna Bohnshtedt Kupletskaya (Эльза Максимилиановна Бонштедт-Куплетская) (18(30) October 1897, St. Petersburg, Russian Empire - 10 July 1974, Moscow, USSR) mineralogist and professor at the Institute of Geology of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry (IGEM) of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. The mineral bonshtedtite is also named after Kupletskaya.
Kupletskite-Kupletskite-(Cs) Series. The potassium analogue of Kupletskite-(Cs). Alters easily to porous black manganese oxides.
