Name:
Named by J.M. Hughes, J.W. Drexler, C.F. Campana, and M.L. Malinconico in 1987 in honour of Dr. Howard Tasker Evans, Jr. (1919(20), Panama Canal Zone - 20 January 2000, Rockville, Virginia, USA) geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey. He was principal investigator for lunar sulfide minerals brought back from the moon. He also determined the crystal structure of more than 100 minerals.
Structurally related to grigorievite and koksharovite.
