About Hingganite-(Y)Hide

04521560015612997359250.jpg
Greater Hinggan (Khingan) Mts, China
Formula:
(Y,REE,Ca)2(◻,Fe2+)Be2[SiO4]2(OH)2
Hardness:
6 - 7
Crystal System:
Monoclinic
Name:
Originally named yttroceberysite and then hingganite, after the type locality in the Greater Hinggan (Khingan) Mts, Qiqihaer Prefecture, Heilongjiang Province (Manchuria), China. The suffix was added, following the Levinson rule, to indicate that the predominant essential REE is yttrium, and to distinguish it from hingganite-(Yb).
Y analogue of hingganite-(Yb) and hingganite-(Ce). Also the vacancy analogue of Unnamed (OH-analogue of gadolinite-(Y)).
Difficult to distinguish from gadolinite-(Y).

Nd-dominant analogue is also known.
