Name:
Originally named 'Alumopharmacosiderite' in 1981 by Karl Schmetzer, Wolfgang Horn, and Hermann Bank in allusion to its composition, containing ALUMinium, and its relationship to Pharmacosiderite.

Renamed to Pharmacoalumite by Rumsey et al. 2010.
Pharmacoalumite Group. The Al analogue of pharmacosiderite. Chemically similar to filatovite and wrightite.

The type material was found on a museum specimen associated with other oxidized arsenates.
