Named by Paul Brian Moore, Anthony J. Irving, and Anthony R. Kampf, in honor of Forrest Franklin Fogg (21 Oct 1920 Lowell, Massachusetts, USA – 29 December 2000, Goffstown, Hillsborough, New Hampshire, USA), mineral collector of Penacook, New Hampshire, USA, amateur mineralogist and co-owner of the Palermo #1 Quarry, North Groton, New Hampshire (the type location) and who energetically worked to study and preserve unusual minerals of the Palermo series of quarries.
