Named in 1960 by Clifford Frondel and Hugo Strunz in honor of Michael Fleischer [February 27, 1908 Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA- September 5, 1998 Chevy Chase, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA]. "Mike" was a mineral chemist for the United States Geological Survey, Reston, Virginia and a long-term editor of "New Mineral Names" for the American Mineralogist. He was co-founder of the International Mineralogical Association.
Fleischerite Group. The Pb analogue of schaurteite. Also the Pb-Ge analogue of genplesite.

Note: most "fleischerite" from Tsumeb is in fact dundasite (see http://www.mindat.org/mesg-7-50534.html).
