Locality type:
When COMIBOL, the bolivian state mining corporation, owned all the mines in this area, it was known as the Quechisla District, since the offices for all the mines were at Quechisla, which is now a ghost town. Presently the mines are cooperatives (owned by the miners themselves), and the federation of cooperatives has its headquarters in the town of Atocha, so the former Quechisla district could more logically now be called the Atocha District. Note that many old specimens were sold by mine engineers at Quechisla and ended up with "Quechisla" as their locality labels, but there are no minerals in or around Quechisla itself!
NB: Some of the mines in this district are in South Chichas province.
