Species: | Orthoclase |
Formula: | K(AlSi3O8) |
Comments: | Grotta d\'Oggi quarry - Isola Elba is the type localite for this mineral. It has been found up to now in several quarries (all closed) on Isola Elba and the Grotta d\'Oggi quarry is the hystorical one. Despite the locality having been a type occurrence, the potassium feldspar from this locality is mostly microcline and it appears that the definition of orthoclase has changed. |
