| Comments: | Over the last 30+ years, there was a debate regarding the validity of mosandrite and/or rinkite in general. Mosandrite was identified from MSH prior to the debate and that species name was generally accepted, awaiting some resolution on the validity. Recent work confirmed the validity of both species from their respective type localities, and the presence of rinkite from MSH in two specimens. In 2016, analytical work at the ROM & CMN by Raman spectroscopy, EMPA WDS confirmed the presence of mosandrite in a number of specimens. The very first specimen identified in 1978 by XRD as mosandrite was fully confirmed, as were specimens collected in 1987 and 2003. | |
