A talc-soapstone occurrence/mine located in the SE¼NE¼ sec. 32, T22N, R5E, MDM, 2.8 km (9,200 feet) NNE of Big Bend Mountain, along the North Fork Feather River, on National Forest land. Operated by Anna G. McLean, San Francisco, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Production information: Soapstone shipped to San Francisco Bay area and marketed as roofing granules prior to 1940. On MR-31 map as soapstone. Produced less than 1,000,000 tons.
