Quarries in mylonitic gneiss ('Plattengneis'). Mineralisation similar to that observed in the quarries near Gams.
This gneiss is widely used for tiles in civil engineering.
A number of quarries were worked in this area in the 19th and 20th century. Most are now overgrown, some are still visible and one or two are still in operation.
It goes without saying that the best specimen would be found in a working quarry, but how to find an owner who lets you potter around in his quarry?
