A former surface and underground Au-Pb-Ag-Cu-Zn mine located on 3 patented claims (Twig I, Twig II, Twig III) in the E½SE¼ sec. 33, T2S, R29E, 2 miles S of Mitchell Peak and 1 mile E of Sardine Saddle. Discovered by Roy Hogen. Produced 1915-1948. Owned by Mr. J.A. Hogan (1948). Operators included J.A. Hogan; Lewis A. Smith; Edward Fitzgerald; and Bryce Willis.

Mineralization is an irregular ore body hosted in the Longfellow Limestone, Coronado Quartzite and Precambrian Pinal Schist. It is 18.29 meters wide with a depth to bottom of 152.4 meters and a thickness of 182.88 meters, striking N5E and dipping 70W. Ore control was a rhyolite tuff breccia zone associated with a major regional fault trending NE. Ore concentration was attrition of galena and lead into balls coated by cerussite and mineralization along the breccia zone. Alteration was contact alteration of Precambrian sediments to metaquartzite schist host rock. Pinal Schist is heavily shattered and folded. Balls of galena weigh up to 500 pounds (222 kg).

Area structures include block faulting with 500-600 feet of downthrow on the west side of the Twig Mine deposits. Regional exposure of the Precambrian schist is due to erosion of Tertiary volcanics.

Tectonic component is the transition zone between the Basin and RAnge and Colorado Plateau Provinces.

Workings are 36.58 meters long and 38.1 meters deep. Open cuts are 75 feet in diameter with 20 foot maximum depth. One shaft with a depth of 65 feet; one tunnel is 125 feet below surface and is 120 feet long. No production records from 1927 to 1947.
