The Arrindell Syndicate was a Glasgow concern, contolling an area of 216 acres from August 1904. It covered former claims Gloucester, Gloucester Extended, George Turnbull in the Lucky Hit Stream, a tributary of the Karaka Stream.
It was formerly worked by the Auckland Gold Mining Company (1887), Lucky Hit Gold Mining Company (1888-1889), Enterprise Syndicate (1892-1893), and the Gloucester Gold Mining Company of London (1898-1902), and finally the Arrindell Syndicate 1905-1908, altogether producing 481 tonnes of ore for 1078 ounces of gold.
No company lasted long as overall the grade of ore was poor, with occasional rich patches. The Arrindell Syndicate had a five stamp battery on the property, containing several quartz veins, however they were prospecting only, little gold had been found, and many of the workings had collapsed.
The reefs included the Lucky Hit, Hansens, Greenstone, Mary Helen, Pride of Parnell, all trending north-east to south-west. The ore contained pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, gold, enargite, barite, with free gold in occasional patches of specimen stone. Enargite was minor and not associated with gold. Secondary pyrite lines cavities, and as films cementing fractured quartz. Jasperoid quartz is frequently found in the upper areas of the Mary Helen Reef, near a pocket of rich gold.
