The Golden Treasure Gold Mine was at the far west of the Golden Mine, near the present deviation road, and bordered to the east by the Chaffers and Golden Horseshoe mines. 90 acres.
In 1896, it was purchased with several other Western Australian gold mines by London and Globe Finance Corporation. In turn the Standard Exploration Company was spun off, in turn the W.A. Exploration and Finance Corporation was formed. English London and Globe Finance is generally considered these days to have been a fraudulent organisation, which formed entities, and closed them just as quickly, taking shareholder money to line the pockets of a few men controlling the enterprise. The corporation had purchased Western Australian mines Mainland Consols, Paddington Consols, Wealth of Nations, Wealth of Nations Extended, Hannans Golden Treasure, Hannans Golden Group, and the Golden Crown mine.
C. Kaufmann who had been employed to undertake the spending spree, warned the organisation that the Golden Treasure was a duffer. He was advised to buy it anyway, the amount of gold on the lease, not their main aim.
The Golden Treasure lease contained one of the original gold bearing quartz blows found on the field. However subsequent testing around the blow, only found kaolin with hematite nodules. After the purchase a shaft was sunk on the top of the lode, and by a stroke of fortune a reef was uncovered at a depth 105 feet. It was not incredibly rich like on the main Golden Mile field, but stated at the time to be payable. A 20 head battery was ordered.
A couple of years later it is reported only enough men are being kept on the lease to prevent its forfeiture. No crushing information was found, and it appears little was done to develop the mine.
