A former Cr mine located in sec. 2, T1S, R13E, MDM, 2.3 km (7,700 feet) SSW of Yosemite Junction, on private land. Owned by R. B. Beckwith. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in Late Jurassic serpentinite. The ore body is lenticular in form, strikes N60W and dips 75NE at a width of 0.91 meters. The ore zone is parallel to the schistosity in the serpentine and broken up by a series of faults. The deposit occurs in the northern part of the western part of 2 serpentine belts which trend NW-SE across the county. The belt is exposed over an area 30 km by 6 km. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface openings comprised of a long, narrow trench.
