A Mn occurrence located in the NE¼ sec. 34, T2S, R6E, HM, 5.0 km (3.1 miles) NNE of Zenia (located a short distance W of the crest of Grizzly Mountain, 0.3 mile from the forest road, on National Forest land (located claim). Discovered 1941. Owned by George A. Kniss and Lee Murphy, California (1974). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a Mn occurrence. The ore body strikes N and dips steeply W at a width of 1.07 meters. Two bodies of dark rock, which appear to be low in Mn and high in Fe, are separated by chert. The deposits contain considerable pyrite and a small amount of copper. The larger body is exposed for 6 feet, and is 3.5 feet wide. Local rocks include Franciscan Complex, unit 1 (Coast Ranges).
