"Salmon Hole" is the name of a site on the Ammonoosuc River where the Salmon Hole Brook empties into it. At one time a rather extensive (by local standards) placer mining operation was run here. (Note: This site should NOT be confused with the Salmon Hole Brook Placer localities, located along that brook upstream of its confluence with the Ammonoosuc River.)
