Gilmanton Iron Works Mine
An Fe occurrence/mine located near Lougee Pond, but often referred to as the Gilmanton Iron Works Mine. The iron works are in the town of Gilmanton, though, not Barnstead, so it is misleading to use that name for this mine. NOTE: The topo maps reflect the presence of bog/swamp lands on the northern shore of the lake and a little further north. NOTE: The geographic coordinates presented are those for the lake.
Mineralization is a bog iron ore deposit.
