A former Fe-Ti-Cu occurrence/mine located in the W½NW¼ sec. 33, T12N, R6E, SBM, 3.3 km (2.1 miles) NW of Cave Mountain (coordinates of record) and 6.5 km (4.0 miles) NNE of Afton, N of Interstate highway 15. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in diorite. The ore body is tabular, lenticular, strikes N25E, dips 60W at a width of 3.05 meters and a length of 24.38 meters. Controls for ore emplacement included a fault. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Workings include surface openings comprised of trenches and pits.
Analytical data results: Selected samples: 63.98% Fe, 0.12% TiO2, 0.64% P, 0.007% (?).
There are small reserves of hematite and magnetite.
