A former lode Au-Cu-Pb occurrence/mine located in the S½SW¼ sec. 1, S½SE¼ of sec. 2 & in the N½NW¼ sec. 12, T11N, R3E, SBM, 3.2 km (2.0 miles) SSW of Alvord Peak (coordinates of record), on private (patented) land. The property is comprised of 6 Au claims and 24 claims in all. Operated during the periods 1885-1891, 1906-1910, 1916-1920 and 1950 to 1952. Operated from 1906-1910 by the Alvord Mining Company; and, from 1916-1920 by the Tintic Bonanza Mining Company. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in limestone & basalt. Limestone is intruded by granite and is cut by porphyry dikes at right angles to bedding and overlain by basalts and tuff at the E end of this belt. The vein is siliceous and is accompanied by limonitic outcrops. It contains jasper, calcite, hematite, pyrite, limonite, and free gold. Some of the hematite and jasper rocks are rich in Au. Au also occurs in calcite, though usually a lower-grade than where accompanied by Fe. Fe sulfides were also found carrying Au. It strikes eastward and dips 75S. Associated rocks include granite. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.

Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a glory hole 150 feet in diameter and 2 adits at 500 and 550 feet long, plus a crosscut. Stoped from adit level to within 40 feet from the surface outcrop.

No other production records found.
