A former asbestos deposit/mine located in the SE¼NW¼NE¼ sec. 32, T6S, R5E, SBM, 3.5 km (2.2 miles) WNW of Pinyon Pines, E of Omstatt Creek (15 miles S of Palm Springs), apparently on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in serpentinite. The ore body is comprised of pods at a width of 3.66 meters. The deposit occurs in a belt of serpentine striking N-S and dipping 60E. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 2 (Peninsular Ranges) and/or pre-Cenozoic granitic and metamorphic rocks undivided.
Workings include surface openings at a length of 12.19 meters and an overall depth of 4.57 meters and comprised of open cuts.
