A former placer Au-Ag-PGE (Pt) occurrence/mine located in sec. 8, T5S, R14E, MDM, 1.8 km (5,800 feet) WSW of Snelling, along the N side of the Merced River. First production was in 1934. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. NOTE: This locality is evidenced on the topo map as a large shaded area of designated tailings.
Local rocks include Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Workings presumably consisted of surface dredging operations.
