A former Cu-Ag-Au-Co mine located in sec. 13 & 24, T9S, R18E, and in secs. 18 & 19, T9S, R19E, MDM, 3.9 km (2.4 miles) NE of Daulton, on private (patented) land.
NOTE: The topo map clearly reflects the presence of the named Jesse Belle shaft in sec. 24, T9S, R18E, MDM, despite the lack of any mention of that section in the MRDS files. Further, the topo map does not reflect the presence of any mine openings/operations in secs. 18 & 19, T9S, R19E, MDM, but the mine workings are very close to the section boundaries between R18E and R19E.
Mineralization is a replacement deposit hosted in rocks of the Mariposa Formation (Late Jurassic schist). The ore body dips 70E at a thickness of 30.48 meters. Controls for ore emplacement include a shear zone. Mariposa clay slate host the ore. The mine is located on a nearly N-S-striking ridge. The ridge is former of mica schist derived from Mariposa clay slate. The mica schist is notable for large amounts of andalusite in the form of coarse chiastolite crystals. The schist outcrop strikes nearly N for 1,000 feet from the North shaft, then strikes N10W. Dip of the schistosity is 70E. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains). The ore is 10 feet wide at the bottom of the Bradford North shaft. The ore shoot is possibly 150 feet long, extending southward.
Local geologic structures include displacement along a shear zone of up to 50 feet (16 meters).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of 1,000 feet of surface workings, shallow pits and numerous shafts (North shaft, Rosati shaft, Jesse Belle shaft, Bradford shaft), along with winzes, stopes and raises.

production information: This mine was worked irregularly since 1900. Production is recent years has been in "cement" copper. No Zn production reported and only 222 pounds of Pb was known to have been recovered. Ore was shipped between 1915-1948. and averaged 16.68% Cu, 17.1 ounces Ag/ton, minor Pb and Au, and an unknown percentage of Zn. Since 1915, production was less than 300,000 pounds Cu. Prior production unknown.
Analytical data results: Bradford shaft: Result: Reported to carry 3.75% Cu and 7% Zn, according to the owner. It averages 6% Cu, and 10% Zn.
