A Au occurrence/claim/prospect located in sec. 31, T37N, R10E, MDM, 0.3 km (0.2 mile; 1,000 feet) SSW of Hayden Hill (summit (coordinates of record) and 1.4 km (0.8 mile) E of Hayden Hill (town). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. The Mount Vernon claim only one developed to any extent.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. Vein strikes N-S, dips 70E. Vein is a quartz-filled fissure, and has an average width of 8 inches, and shows some pyrite. The formation is a rhyolite tuff. Local rocks include Tertiary intrusive rocks (hypabyssal), unit 1 (Cascades Volcanic Field).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a vertical shaft 120 feet deep; a 30 foot cross-cut driven E to the vein, at which point a winze has been sunk 100 feet on the vein.
