A former Au-Cu-Fe mine located in sec. 31, T14S, R36E, MDM, 7.8 km (4.9 miles) NNW of Lone Pine and 5.4 km (3.3 miles) WSW of Owenyo, eastern slope of the Alabama Hills. Property consisted of 4 claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

NOTE: USGS MRDS file #10036062 incorrectly reports the T&R value of R35E for this locality. It is, in fact, R36E.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in felsic volcanic rock. Associated rocks include granite. The ore body strikes N30W-N10E and dips 40NE-65NW, at a thickness of 0.08 meter. A felsite dike intrudes granite. Some free gold is associated with hard, reddish black bands of hematite. Veins occur along the dike, 8 feet in thickness. Mineralization also along horizontal joints, 3 to 5 inches apart and 1 to 3 inches wide. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 3 (Mojave Desert, Death Valley area, and Eastern Sierra Nevada).

Workings include underground openings. Development consists of several tunnels. The upper ones were driven years ago. Principal development consists of 2 tunnels about 75 feet apart, vertically. The upper one was driven NW about 350 feet on the vein. There is some stoping on shoots apparently about 30 feet long. The lower tunnel is 460 feet long. At 210 feet there is a 35 foot winze and at 385 feet there is a 35 foot winze. There is a stope to the upper tunnel about 120 feet long, with an average width of approximately 3 feet.
