A Cr-Sb-Fe-asbestos occurrence located in the S½NE¼ sec. 7, T21N, R4E, MDM, 4.2 km (2.6 miles) NE of Sausage Mountain (coordinates of record), on the western shore of Lake Oroville, in the Lime Saddle area (also 4.0 km (2.5 miles) WSW of Yankee Hill [on opposite side of Lake Oroville], and approximately 4 miles SSE of Paradise, in the Lake Oroville State Recreation area), on state park land. Owned by the State of California (100%). Operated by Clark, Riemers, Mc Nallen and Stevens (1942). Operated by Mr. Cashom (timeframe unstated). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a Cr-chrysotile deposit hosted in peridotite. The ore body(ies) is(are) podiform and lenticular in form, strike N30W and dip 70N, at a width of 3 meters and a length of 25 meters. The primary mode of origin was magmatic differentiation. Primary ore control is stated as "other." Wallrock alteration is intense (serpentization of peridotite). This deposit is located in an elongated peridotite mass, 200 to 300 feet wide, which is in vertical contact with amphibolite schist. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a large open cut (1943), an 85 foot long adit, a 25 foot deep winze, and a 40 foot deep shaft.
