A former U-V occurrence/mine located in approximate sec. 6, T40N, R29E, G&SRM, 4.7 km (2.9 miles) N of Black Rock Point (coordinates of record, adjacent to VCA Rattlesnake (Plot No. 6). T&R values are not presented for this location.
Mineralization is tyuyamunite in irregular tabular layers hosted in Late Jurassic claystone, siltstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash Member of Morrison Formation on the NE limb of the Toh Atin anticline. The ore is found in clusters, usually with carbonaceous debris. The ore is at a depth of 30 feet in a thin, argillaceous sandstone lens in the Salt Wash Member, 30 feet above the Bluff sandstone contact. on the N flank of the Rattlesnake anticline. Local rocks include rocks of the Morrison Formation.
Workings include underground openings comprised of 50° 500 foot incline, 135 feet of room and pillar operations plus 100 drill holes.
Production was 432 tons @ 0.33% U3O8; 1.80% V2O5 (1959).
