A former V-U occurrence/mine located in approximate sec. 27, T40N, R30E, G&SRM, 8.9 km (5.5 miles) S of Teec Nos Pos and 4.5 miles W of Bitlabito Trading Post. The claims are contiguous and overlapping, thus the 2 mines with 2 names. T&R values are not presented for this location.
Mineralization is carnotite in irregular, tabular layers hosted in Late Jurassic claystone, siltstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash Member of the Morrison Formation. Ore is found in clusters, usually associated with carbonaceous detritus. Thin discontinuous bands and scattered lenses of tyuyamunite occur about 40 feet above the Salt Wash Member contact with the Bluff sandstone. Workings are between 2 igneous masses. Local rocks include rocks of the Glen Canyon Group.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of rim cuts and shallow adits.
Production was 120 tons @0.12% U3O8; 1.76% V2O5 (1955), from the Jim
Lee No. l; and, 57 tons @1.78% U3O8; 2.78% V2O5 (1955), from the Richard King No. 1.
