Oxford pegmatite field. Morrill et al. (1958) reported an astonishing association of phenakite with amethyst, but the report is certainly wrong. There are no known phenakite on amethyst specimens from anywhere in the world. The quartz crystals do occasionally have tiny quartz crystals on large quartz crystals and may have been the origin of the mistake.
