Structure: Palmetto-Oasis Thrust Fault
Alteration: Chloritization Of Quartz Monzonite Near Contact
Deposit: Talcose bodies occurs As irregular lenses along the fault zone 15 to 150 ft in strike length. Some talc bodies are wholly within the dolomite up to 150 ft away from the fault contact. Chlorite selvages up to 12 inches wide are present between talc and dolomite
Development: Bovard produced talc from 1928-1938 from open pits and underground work. Sierra talc and clay co. Bought the mine in 1938 and operated it continuously from 1938 to 1966, since which lessees have produced small amounts from open pits. Sierra talc shipped sorted ore to its company mill at keeler, ca.
