Greisen tin deposit.

The deposit is part of the Britannia Pluton, 4 kilometres by 7 kilometres, intruding into the Greenland Group greywackes and argillites. The pluton consists of muscovite-biotite granites, however at its southern contact it has undergone high temperature shearing, forming andalusite and/or sillimanite.

In one section near the Britannia Stream, about 2 kilometres north of Denniston, minute cassiterite crystals were found, only noted as the species is relatively rare in the region. Other sulphides were present, requiring specialist equipment to determine, were pyrite, chalcopyrite, bornite, and covellite. Hematite is also noted. (Kutsukake) also states the area contains tourmaline crystals to 50 mms in length, black, probably schorl, or/and intermediate between schorl/dravite. Quartz veins containing gold are also found in the area, in particular the abandoned Britannia gold mine.
