A former underground Hg-Cu mine on 15 claims partially in sec. 13, T.7N., R.8E., and three other sections to the west, NW, and north, overlying Bowman Creek and the West Fork Sycamore Creek. The first 6 claims (Native, Packover, Titanic, Jasper, Go By and Ione) were discovered during October, 1911, by E. H. Bowman, of Phoenix, while prospecting for gold. The Sunflower Cinnabar Mining Co. purchased these for $10,000 by the Sunflower Cinnabar Mining Co. That company acquired nine other claims in addition.
The claims that comprise this property are the: Iron Butte, Silver Butte, Native, Jasper, Sulphide No. 1, Silver Tip, Packover, Go By, Sunnyside, Titanic, Ione, Black Jack, Lallapaloosa, Hard Luck, and, the Lollipop.
The lode, where intersected by the upper tunnel, appears to have a width of about 12 inches, and the principal stringer, which is nearly 6 inches (15 cm) in maximum width, consists of buff ferruginous carbonate, white calcite, quartz, and cinnabar.
Workings include 2 tunnels run nearly west under the Go By claim from the slope above the west fork of Sycamore Creek. The upper or No. 2 tunnel is from 250 to 300 feet above the creek. It is a crosscut about 150 feet long. The No. 4 tunnel is about 100 feet lower. It is also a crosscut running in the same direction and is about 500 feet long.
