Its extensive lead-zinc-copper ore deposit occurs in Upper Proterozoic schists and marbles (Bariand, 1963; Cherepovsky, Chinakov and Kokorin, 1981; Romanko et al., 1984). Five adits were used in its heyday (1950s), one reaching 200 meters deep into Milleh Mountain, giving access to several gigantic solution pockets (the ‘geodes’ of Bariand, p. 45, 1963). The mineralization appears to be lenticular and irregular in shape (up to 20 meters long and 3 meters thick) and is situated along the crushed contact zone of marbles and schists, cemented by coarse-crystalline calcite. Russian researchers (Cherepovsky, Chinakov and Kokorin, 1981; Romanko et al., 1984) assume deeper ore bodies exist, but these remain to be discovered. Mine located in 1500 m asl, abandoned in 1959.
