The mine was opened up in Engine Vein Conglomerate and Wilmslow Sandstone and connected to the nearby Pillar Mine. Two small levels comprise the upper, accessible, section of Doc Mine that was excavated along a mineralised portion of the Stormy Point Fault. In 1977 part of the mine collapsed, blocking the lower level.
