A placer gold deposit area near the mouth of Eagle Creek.
Mineralization is placer gold that occurs in this section of the river, which here maintains a curved course that is deeply entrenched between bluffs of hard Gila Conglomerate. Within the arcs of many of these curves are ancient river gravels which rest upon the conglomerate. These gravels contain considerable sand and a large proportion of spheroidal boulders generally less than 1 foot (0.3 meters) diameter. Black sand and abundant pebbles of accessory minerals are present.
