Tectonics: San Juan Basin
Deposit: The flat shale bed containing the nodules of pyrolusite and wad covered the top of a low, elliptical shaped knoll. The ore was thickest on the north end and thinned on the south end
Geology: The cuba manganese district is the only locality in the state where the concretionary manganese nodules formed during or immediately after deposition of the host rock.
