A former Cu-Pb-A-Zn-Au-U occurrence/mine located in the SW¼ sec. 14, T32N, R10W, G&SRM, on/near Whitmore Point (cliff), on National Recreation Area land. Operators included J. Wulfenstein, Calvin Barrington, Arizona Copper Mountain Mining Company, Frank Cox (1937), Arizona American Copper, R.T. McMasters (1917), Strip Copper Incorporated, and by the Copper King Mining Company. Owned by Lorraine Cox, Utah (1942). Produced during the period 1913 to 1918 & finally closed in 1974. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 500 meters.

Mineralization is lenses and stringers in the Petrified Forest member of the Chinle formation involving a collapse structure, 700 feet in diameter in the Supai formation Late Permian sandstone which is in unconformable contact with Redwall Limestone. The Supai is bleached and the Redwall Limestone below is cherty. Ore control was fractures around solution breccia pipe structures. Includes secondary copper minerals. Local rocks include Permian to Pennsylvanian sedimentary rocks.

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 64.01 meters.

Production statistics: Year: 1913 (ore average): ^25 weight percent Cu, $ 3.50 Ag/ton (period values). 1913 production was 1 carload every 2 months.

Analytical data results: U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (USAEC) sampling: 14.1%, 0.75%, 0.54%, 0.13%, %E U3O8.
