A former surface and underground Cu-Au-Ag-silica mine located in the N½ sec. 19 & 30, T3S, R13E (Teapot Mountain 7.5 minute topo map), about ½ mile S of the Copper Butte summit, about 3 miles WSW of Granite Mountain and about 6½ miles WNW of Kelvin, N of the Gila River. 3 shafts are shown on map, UTM is where 2 of these shafts are close together in sec. 31. Operated by the Copper Butte Mining Co. Operators also included C.F. Mitchell.

Mineralization is an irregular orebody hosted in Whitetail Conglomerate Ore control is in gray zones of the conglomerate. Little to no supergene enrichment. Small faults with a common strike throughout the area. Minor faults separate ore from gangue. A fault of NW strike and SW dip separates the Whitetail Conglomerate from dacite to the south. Beds weakly stratified, strike N30°-70°W and a steep dip. This deposit is probably alluvial material formed by erosion of the supergene deposits of Ray and Miami.

Workings include 5 pits and 4 shafts. One 400 foot inclined shaft in 1913, one 114 foot shaft joins to a lower tunnel 700 feet long. The pits were begun in the 1940's. An inclined shaft was dug in 1913.
