In southern Illinois, the unit includes, from oldest to youngest, the Davis Coal and Dekoven Coal which are laterally equivalent to the Seelyville Coal, Colchester Coal, Mecca Quarry Shale, Survant Coal, Houchin Creek Coal, Excello Shale, Springfield Coal, Turner Mine Shale, St. David Limestone, Herrin Coal, Anna Shale, and Energy Shale.
