An U occurrence/group of 5 claims (Nos. 1 through 5) located in the E½ sec. 20, T18N, R19E, G&SRM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile) SW of Joseph City, on private land. The owners in 1951 were D.O. Roller of Wickenburg and L.W. Kowalski of Phoenix. Additional location is in sec. 5.
Mineralization is a thin lenses of jasper enclosed in flat-lying Late Triassic bentonite shale in the Chinle Formation. The lens is about 6 inches (0.15 meter) thick and at least 150 feet (45.72 meters) in diameter. Host rock also reported as containing the Leatherwood quartz diorite - major mineralizer of skarns. The U occurs in extremely minute fractures, invisible to the naked eye, within a lens of jasper and was former from devitrification of volcanic ash and redepositied in the jasper lens. Local rocks include Holocene surficial deposits.
Workings include 2 shallow prospect pits.
Analytical data results: Three representative samples contained 0.025, 0.026, and 0.043% U, and a high grade specimen contained 0.25% U. 5 samples: 0.003-0.25% e U3O8; 0.001-0.25% U3O8
