A former V-U occurrence/mine located in the center sec. 35, T40N, R30E, G&SRM, 9.3 km (5.8 miles) S of Teec Nos Pos.

Mineralization is an U deposit hosted in Late Jurassic claystone, siltstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash Member of Morrison Formation. The ore body is irregular, tabular layers at a width of 0.3 meter. Ore is found in clusters, usually associated with carbonaceous detritus. Tyuyamunite in specks and paint hosted in fine-grained, quartzose sandstone with carbon matter in the lower 50 feet of the Salt Wash Member. Local alteration involved the deposit being underlain, deformed and altered by a later, igneous, intrusive sill. Barren mudstones separate 1 foot thick mineralized sandstone lenses. The ore zone dips 16°N and 33°E. Exceptionally rich zones of V ore. Local rocks include rocks of the Glen Canyon Group. Radioactivity @ 2 mr/hour.

Approximately 1 to 2 thousand tons of ore were produced up to 1970.

Workings include underground openings comprised of 3 adits with over 600 feet of underground workings.

Production was 2,116 tons @ 0.19% U3O8 and 2.91% V2O5 (1953-1955).

Analysis results: 9.63% CaCO3; maximum 72.0% V2O5.

Resources believed to be very limited.

Stratigraphic Name: Navajo Sandstone; Kayenta Formation; Moenave Formation

Description: Conspicuous red, cross-bedded Wingate Sandstone and the conspicuously cross-bedded, eolian, red to buff Navajo Sandstone form prominent cliffs in northern Arizona. These two sandstone units are separated by variably colored siltstone, silty sandstone, and sandstone of the Kayenta and Moenave Formations. (180-210 Ma)
