A former Hg occurrence/mine located 26 miles SE of Study Butte in Big Bend National Park. Active during the turn of the century for the extraction of cinnabar quicksilver ore.
Produced 894 flasks of refined quicksilver from July 1917 to May 1919 (USGS).
Structure: Nw-Trending Thrust-Faulted Asymmetrical Anticline
Deposit: Fracture filling occurs along a vertical fissure and thrust.
Development: Acquired by mariscal mining co. 1919. ; econ.com: a 50 tpd scott furnace built 1922.
Geology: Geol.desc: a thrust-faulted asymmetrical anticline with a steep west flank is cut by steep fractures.
