Structure: Detachment Faulting. Ore Occurs In Part Along The Ne-Striking Montgomery-Shoshone Fault. This Fault Has An Apparent Normal Displacement Of 3,500 Ft.
Alteration: Locally Strong Silicification As Quartz Flooding; Some Argillization And Alunite Along Shears.
Tectonics: Within Timber Mountain Caldera Complex And Bare Mountain-Bullfrog Hills Metamorphic Core Complex.
Commodity: The ratio ag:au is much higher than characteristic for bullfrog district ores
Deposit: During underground mining, most of the ore probably came from above the 300 ft level. The best ore from "glory hole" area, some of which reported to assay $700/ton.
Deposit type: Epithermal vein, Comstock
Development: Acquired by st. Joe in 1982 and exploration drilling began in september 1983. By 1985 a mineral inventory had been developed, metallurgical testing was completed, and an open pit mine was designed. St. Joe planned (2/88) to begin construction in june, 1988, with production to begin in may, 1989. In april 1988, 8 drill rigs were active on the property in pre-production. Exploration in the vicinity based on the montgomery-shoshone model led to the discovery of what became known As the bond gold bullfrog deposit (record #re00023). ; econ.com: open pit mine developed in conjunction with the bond gold bullfrog mine.
Ore(s): Principal Orebody In Brecciated Area Between Two North-Striking Listric Normal Faults At Their Intersection With The NE-Striking Montgomery-Shoshone Fault. Ore Is Typically In Quartz-Calcite Veins, Along Listric Normal Faults And Tear Faults, And Along Hanging Wall And Footwall Stockworks. The Stockwork Ore Is Controlled By Brittlely Deformed Rocks.
