Worked from 1815 to 1869, producing 16,500 tons of copper, 1,320 tons of tin and 50 tons of arsenic. It was latterly included into the St Day United Mines group.
The site of this mine is marked by a large waste tip on the hillside above Todpool village beside the road to Twelveheads. This tip marks the site of Flakeys Shaft.
Flakey's Shaft lies at the approximate centre of the Creegbrawse sett, it has been sunk on the course of Main Lode and is recorded as extending down to 96 fathoms below adit, which itself lies approximately 50 fathoms below surface horizon.
The shaft is currently choked at surface. A significant burrow (mine waste tip) still marks the shaft site. Whilst this burrow is predominantly composed of barren development waste, good specimens of Cassiterite can still be found with diligent searching.
The mine extends a considerable distance to both the north-east and south-west of Flakey's Shaft, with old tips and shafts on both sides of the minor road from Chacewater to Poldice.
Dumps in the vicinity of Flat Rod Shaft, lying to the north-east of Flakey's have produced respectable specimens of Cassiterite.
