This mine was started as Wheal Rome around 1830 and renamed West Roskear Mine in 1871. It was worked intermittently until 1879, and produced small quantities of lead and copper ores. Two walled shafts and some spoil heaps remain just south of the A30 road, near the bridge west of Treswithian.
