A former small surface and underground W-Cu mine/group of claims located on 2 unpatented claims in the NW ¼ sec. 34, T.15S., R.4E. (protracted), on the edge of San Luis village, 10 miles W of Comobabi. Started in early 1941. Owned by Mr. William Coplen & W.L. O'Brien.
Mineralization is coarsely crystalline quartz veins with irregular seams and particles of wolframite and sparse, disseminated scheelite and chalcopyrite along fractures in Cretaceous (?) andesite volcanic flows near an altered Laramide granitic intrusive cut by diorite and granitic porphyry dikes. Chalcopyrite occurs on the footwall. The vein strikes Northward and dips 15ºE. and is of lenticular cross-section, with a maximum thickness of 7 inches, by 6 feet across the incline. Concists of coarsely crystalline, grayish-white quartz with irregular seams. Small particles of chalcopyrite occur in the footwall and iron oxide is abundant near the surface.
Workings include a 30 foot (9.14 meters) deep inclined shaft and several small cuts. Reportedly several hundred dollars worth of hand-picked tungsten ore were produced.
