Valley located below the historical building of the Vesuvius Observatory, to the southwest of the 1944 lava flow (which partly destroyed the town of San Sebastiano al Vesuvio). It is mainly carved in pyroclastic products of the Pomici di Avellino Plinian eruption (3,900±40 cal year BP).
