Colle del Vento (2232 m) is a pass, located between Punta Costabruna (2414 m) to the south and Monte Muretto (2282) to the north, which connects the Rio Peiroel valley, i.e., the northern branch of Vallone del Sangonetto (Sangone valley), to Vallone del Gravio (Susa valley).

In the Colle del Vento area, particularly along the heavily eroded western slope, thin layers of mica schists, sometimes rich in siderite, and a thin layer of eclogitic mica schist are observable in the embedding calcschists.

Red rutile crystals from the Colle del Vento area are often twinned or grouped in parallel aggregates. Quartz generally forms small crystals whose faces look like satin-finished surfaces.

Note: specimens of adularia or smoky quartz in some public and private collections labelled as from "Colle del Vento, Susa Valley" or "Colle del Vento, Sangone Valley" actually come from the not too far Monte Muretto.
